finally got my duct work done.
why is my bin lid buckling? is it not air-tight?
vacuum pressure was great for sucking up my pvc shavings. now got to hook up my machines to test the dust.

Andy,
If you're using the standard metal can with the metal lid it is normal for them to buckle to nearly flat (My memory has them as Behrens cans). Make sure you get a good seal at the lid as separation gets poor if you have a leak.

The metal trash can lids will develop cracks due to the flexing. I think that is why many have made plywood lids with a rabbit or another ring on the inside to hold the seal in place and keep it centerd and then just hold it down with some bungee cords. I have heard of some cheap trash cans, thin metal, collapse with the air flow blocked.
