Cyclone Inlet sizing - does it matter?

I am looking at dust collectors in the $800-$1200 range and have been impressed with the Clearvue's measured specs. However, I have a question about the 6" inlet diameter. It seems that most other cyclones have a 7 or 8" inlet diameter. Does this impact the performance of the DC? What are the tradeoff's involved? I can't imaging other companies making large inlet diameters if there were no effect (unless they like selling larger pipe :)). Thanks!

Greg,
Have you tried logging on to the Bill Pentz site? I think your question can be answered there.
I'm using a Clear Vue cyclone after using a Jet 1100C for three years. I thought the Jet was working fine, with very little dust in my shop. Now there is virtually no dust in my shop. I find this truly amazing.
I think the consequences of this dust issue is explained very well on Bill Pentz's site.
