What's the maximum vacuum a CV1800 can handle? I have some tools with 2" ports which is probably too small to allow enough airflow. I'd like to put a vacuum gage on my duct to help me determine how much extra airflow to add so the cyclone is not struggling.
It might sound counter to what you would think but a closed off cyclone uses the least power and is not struggling. With the impeller spinning the air in a circle in the impeller housing it is loafing along. With it wide open it is working to move the maximum air through the system and the static pressure is the lowest. The reason to open additional ports is to keep the air and dust moving through the ducts so it doesn't settle in them. Opening one partially or fully further up the system will accomplish that. Use the vacuum gauge to give you an indication at both extremes and then what works best for the work you are doing.
