Wood stand for cyclone?

Is it the group consensus that when not enclosing the Clearvue cyclone in a closet, using a free-standing stand will reduce noise over wall mounting the unit?

If so, does anyone have any plans for or advice on building a wood stand for the unit? I'm envisioning some sort of an open stand that could later be partially enclosed if necessary to reduce noise. I just ordered a CV1800 LH but haven't received it yet.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

A fre standing frame will reduce the low frequency noise transfered from the unit to the wall and into adjacent rooms. etc. Most of the noise comes from the blower and into the exaust and thats why enclosed in a sound proofed room is best. I was able to reduce noise quite a bit with a free standing frame, a partial enclosure, muffler and filter box, but probably still not quite as effective as the total enclosed room. For details, see Nako's Noise Reduction Hybrid in the gallery.
