Alternative Filter Setup

I have a 9' ceiling and was considering the filter setup shown in the link below:

The advantage of this setup is the ability to put a muffler in the line. The open floor space below could be used for storage. Would there be a problem with the dust being blown up into the filters? With the normal setup, some of the dust would go to the bottom and stay there.

Ours are set up this way except they are side by side and not in line like yours, and they are working just fine. We also wanted to the option to blow the air outside when we don't have to heat it in the winter. So at Ed's suggestion, we have a connection from the box at the bottom to the outside. When it is cold, the gate is closed and the air goes through the filters. When it gets warm enough, it will go outside, cleaning out the box at the same time. And it does clean it out if you overfill your trash can with shavings, sending them down the pipe. NOT that we know this from experience, of course...:)
