Dust Collector Filters

Hello everyone!
I'm new to the woodworking industry and thought it would be interesting to start a conversation about dust collector filters that are used in wood shops.

What types of dust collector filters/brands do you use in your shop? I have heard of many from Grizzly to Donaldson/Torit.
What is the purpose of getting a pleated dust collector cartridge filter like the one shown below?

Pleated filters are used to get much more filter surface area in a compact package than can be obtained in say bag filters. I used Wynn filters with 300 square feet of area each.

bababrown Oh. So there's an advantage over having a cartridge than a bag filter? Are there any particular brands better than the other?

Very much so. Bag filters let the fine dust right through. I recommend very strongly that you read Bill Pentz's primer on dust collection. He is the authority on dust collection for home owners(and much more). His site is:

It will take you some time to read this but you will find it worthwhile.
