I cut out the spring wire from the first 2 inches of my flex hose , and then dipped the end in a pot of hot soapy dish water. The flex hose quickly softens and is the easily stretched over my 6" S&D PVC Duct pipe to be held with spiral clamp.
Be careful the hot "soapy dish water" can burn. It also helped to support the the other end of "slinky-wiggly" flex hose with a small rope from overhead while fitting the "warm-wet-soapy" end over the 6" PVC.
