shop vac vs cv1800 for mitersaw

I can’t decide which is the better option. My mitersaw station is stationary and I have already placed the ducting. The saw was previously connected to my shop vac.

pros of cv: more power and ability to configure an efficient system. Not having a shop vac taking up space.

cons: often do a “quick cut” and would need to start and stop the collector frequently

what at is the consensus with this? Is there a best practice?

Thanks!

A Shop Vac is a good dust collection device for use with a mitersaw if it only sees intermittent work. I actually have my mitersaw connected through a CV-06 mini cyclone and then to a 16 gallon ShopVac for most use. If you were doing a major amount of lumber cutting, then a better enclosure with appropriate ductwork to a CV 1800 would be well worth the effort. By all means, don't get into the habit of firing up your CV 1800 for a 20 second cut and then repeating it several times in a session as you will overload the motor on the cyclone.
